  I phoned to ask the price for a service of a golf and they need the registration of the car - how does that affect the price? I need to know the year. Well you won't get the year from my registration as it is a private plate. The year is 2008. It is a 2.0TDI. They asked me 'Do I know the registration?' 'Yes I do, can they give me a price?' They need the registration to book the parts. I asked 'You don't carry parts to service a Golf?' 'No we need to order them in.' I checked the service book and it requires an oil change, an inspection, brake fluid change. SO please beware of a car garage that wants to order parts before the car is inspected AND doesn't carry oil and brake fluid.

  Over the past three years I have paid almost £500 every time to pass my MOT in this establishment. The chief mechanic assured me that this was normal for my car and the age of it. I also went in another time with a small problem and had to spend over £300 on a major piece of work, that when finished, did not solve the original problem. Suspicious, I got an MOT this year from a respected national company - it was £52 to pass my MOT, and from speaking to the national company they seemed genuinely mystified why I had paid so much as there were no major auto problems from the past paperwork I showed them. Avoid this establishment, they will charge exhorbitant amounts of money for work that does not seem to need to be done, and the mechanics display an arrogant attitude when questioned on this.
